Western Australia – Zhejiang Province’s Sister State

西澳州 — 浙江省的友好省州

Since 1987 Western Australia (WA) has had a Sister-State relationship with China’s Zhejiang Province. WA and Zhejiang are highly complementary in that both regions have the fastest-growing economies in their respective countries. 2007 saw the 20th anniversary of the sister-state relationship between the two  beautiful states and the ongoing exchange activities， joint research programs achievements in the fields of energy, natural resources, information technology, life science, biotechnology, medical science, agriculture, culture and education ect. occurred between the two regions through China’s opening up process, Particularly in the field of science and technology, WA has a world-class technology park and many world-famous scientists, such as Prof Barry Marshall, the winner of 2005 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine  was invited to visit Zhejiang University, make a speech to the teachers and students and be entitled a honorable professor of Zhejiang University on 27 March 2006.

澳大利亚西澳州与中国浙江省自1987年即缔结了友好省州关系。两省州之间具有很强的互补性，其经济在澳大利亚和中国都分别处于发展最快之列。2007年见证着这两个美丽的省州缔结友好省州关系20周年，也见证着中国改革开放过程中，两省州之间在能源、自然资源、信息技术、生命科学、生物技术、医学、农业、文化和教育等各个领域层出不穷的交流活动、合作研究和成果。特别是在科技领域，西澳州拥有世界级的科技园和众多的世界著名科学家，诸如2005年诺贝尔医学与生理学奖得主–西澳州科学家巴里·马歇尔教授应邀于2006年3月27日访问浙江大学，为师生进行演讲并成为浙江大学的名誉教授。
